Referrals

Helpful information and guidance for patients waiting for a hospital consultation, treatment or surgery.

Self-Referrals

The following services do not need you to wait speak to a doctor and you can refer or access these services directly yourself.

Maternity

If you are pregnant you will need to register for maternity services by completing an online self-referral for your preferred hospital. They will contact you to make arrangements for your first visits and tests.

Our nearest hospitals are:

Musculoskeletal Problems

For problems with bones, muscles and joints such as back pain or knee injuries you can be given an appointment with our First Response Physiotherapist.

Reception can book you directly into this clinic and bypass the need for a GP appointment. You will need to give a brief explanation of the kind of problem you are experiencing.

The First Response Physiotherapist will assess you, offer expert advice, initial treatment and refer you to other services or tests as needed.

Citizen's Advice Bureau

For issues that are non-medical but are badly affecting your health, such as debts, work problems, legal, housing, benefits etc., you can get a GP surgery referral to a CAB advisor from one of our Receptionists. You will need to give them information for a referral to be sent but, as with all patient information, this will be dealt with in the strictest confidence.

Counselling

If you are suffering from mild to moderate anxiety or depression, or have other conditions that would benefit from counselling or psychological work, you can self-refer to the Psychological Therapies Service. They will contact you to arrange an assessment in order to see which of their services, or any other services, would best help you.
