Current Candidate - Anton Fishman

My family and I have been patients at Mayfield Surgery for 40 years, during which time we have had probably four generations of GPs and have appreciated all the support we have received, busy at times when our children were young, less so for quite a while, and more intensely recently with a bit of a health glitch.  Being happy with the practice, we have recommended it to friends and neighbours who too have been really positive about their experiences at Mayfield.

Originally a teacher and an educational psychologist I spent most of my career working with commercial and not-for-profit organisations, large and small, and the people running them, to help them manage and lead better. Now retired I have the time and energy to devote to strengthening the relationship between Mayfield Surgery and the patients it serves through my involvement in its Patients Participation Group, something I am greatly looking forward to doing. With Mary-Ellen Field retiring from her long-held and dedicated service as Chair of the PPG I have offered to get more involved in the PPG either as Chair or supporting and working closely with the next Chair. Teamwork, cooperation and involving others have defined the ways of working in the consultancies I have run and they will be the qualities I hope to bring to the PPG and its relationship with the professional and managerial staff at the Surgery.

My name is Mary-Ellen Westwood. My family and I have been patients at Mayfield Surgery for over 25 years. I am the new Chairman of Mayfield's Patient Participation Group. You may not have heard of a PPG.  We had an active group pre Covid but weren't able to meet again until after this and are keen to get active again with our fellow patients.

I would like to encourage you to become involved. Our role is to act as a critical friend to the practice. We are part of a larger group of surgeries in our area. Chartfield Surgery, Healthbridge Practice and Tudor Health Centre. Our aim is the represent the diverse views of all out fellow patients and to help our doctors and the rest of the teams give us all the bes possible service.

Looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible very soon.

Mary-Ellen
